I’ve seen other boaters talking about a Mr D slow cooker, one that works with no power. And there’s the added bonus of the amazing smell each time you walk through the boat. After a long day of being outdoors, steering the boat and doing locks, its so nice to have a ready cooked meal at the end of it all and the batteries are well able to cope with the engine running. Whilst it is quite a draw on the electrical system, we have found the best use of it is to set it up with all the ingredients for a stew or slow cooked joint when we are cruising all day. For anyone embarking on a similar experience, we hope that the following list will be useful. Over time we have found that we brought some things that we just haven’t used but there are some that we just couldn’t do without. And whilst we are lucky to have a decent amount of storage onboard, it’s surprising how quickly it filled up once we started unpacking. ![]() □ Neither of us likes to rough it but we had to be very ruthless in what we chose to bring with us. Storage onboard is always something that we had to consider when deciding what to bring with us when we packed up our house and moved onto The Frog. Living onboard full time has its challenges, being in a confined space without all of the conveniences that go along with living in a conventional house.
